Tim Burgess in 1994

Okay, so let us say that you have never heard about the Charlatans, that you have never heard one of their touching songs. As bad as that sounds, do not worry this site came at the right time to rescue you or at least we hope so. You cannot possibly have not heard about Tim Burgess.....good-looking Northwich Crooner no doubt.

This Page will give you some information about "luscious lips" Tim Bugess before we move on to the other members of the band and their biography.

30th May 1967- Timothy Allan Burgess was born on this day.  As a child he was a little charmer or so we were told.

1983- Tim left school with just one O' level in English

He soon began to work as a push-bike messenger

He rarely went out on Saturdays instead he used to stay in and listen to new tracks

Soon Tim realised he wanted to be in a band

He joined several bands before he settled with "The Electric Crayons" where he met John Baker (The Charlatans' Early Guitarist).

Tim adored Joy Division and The Fall

At the age of 16, he started to hang out in a little music store called Omega Music which was run by Steve Harrison (Now the Charlatans Manager).

After Baz Ketley's departure, Tim joined The Charlatans and he never looked backed.

"There's always been that facade, where you're wondering, Should I let all my emotions flood out, or should I just try to be really cool?" Tim Burgess

"In a way, a lot of those emotions were shown on the first record, because it was sucha a new thing to us. The trouble was that a lot of the music was just wallpapaer. The Second record was all over the place, but the third one was us coming back. Tracks like "Feels Flows" and "I never want an easy life" were us tearing it out, really. And Rob was a bit of a leader in that"- Tim Burgess on Music
